First of its kind disaster relief trailer bringing aid to Helene victims
As recovery efforts continue in the wake of Hurricane Helene, many in South Florida are stepping up to provide assistance, and one particular trailer has become a vital resource in the region’s time of need.
While it may seem unassuming from the outside, the small yet powerful trailer from Altitude Water is offering an unconventional form of aid. “Typically, after a disaster, we bring in bottled water or treat contaminated groundwater. But there’s pure, natural water in the air all around us,” said Zappy Zapolin, the founder of the Mind Army.
Zappy explained that the idea of converting humidity into drinkable water emerged a few years ago. It was first used to support recovery efforts during the Maui wildfires, and now it’s being deployed to assist the community in Perry, Florida. From there, the team plans to head north to Asheville, North Carolina.
“You have to give people hope, and being a part of that is the icing on the cake,” added Jeffrey Szur, COO and co-founder of Altitude Water.
