The incident unfolded just before 9 a.m. at the RaceTrac gas station located at 599 W. Atlantic Boulevard, when Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to respond to a disturbance call at the location.

Upon arriving at the scene, the deputies encountered a man who quickly became aggressive. According to Broward Sheriff’s Office officials, the man turned irate and attacked both deputies without provocation. During the struggle, one of the deputies sustained a severe bite to his ear, while the other deputy suffered less severe injuries.

Despite the violent attack, the deputies managed to subdue and apprehend the suspect. Officials have not yet disclosed the identity of the man involved, nor have they specified the charges that will be filed against him, but they confirmed that the individual was taken into custody after the incident.

Both deputies were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries and their current condition has not been fully disclosed, though the ear injury is believed to be the more serious of the two.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office has yet to release additional details regarding the exact nature of the disturbance that initially brought deputies to the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to provide more information as the case develops.

The incident highlights the risks faced by law enforcement officers while responding to routine calls, as even seemingly ordinary situations can escalate into violent encounters.
