Singer El Taiger still in ‘very critical condition’ after Miami shooting: Police chief
Cuban reggaeton star El Taiger remains in “very critical condition” at a Miami hospital following a shooting incident, according to the city’s police chief.
Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales provided an update on the investigation during a press conference Friday morning.
El Taiger, whose real name is José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, was admitted to Jackson Memorial Hospital on Thursday with a gunshot wound and underwent surgery. His representative, Carlos Alfaro, stated that a surgeon reported significant damage to the singer’s brain and that he is currently on life support.
The 37-year-old was discovered unresponsive in the back of an SUV near Northwest 9th Avenue and 17th Street. While police have not confirmed whether the gunshot was self-inflicted, Miami Police spokesperson Mike Vega indicated that evidence suggests the shooting did not occur inside the vehicle.
Morales emphasized that investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. “We’re not ruling out any possibilities at this time,” he said.
The police have identified the owner of the SUV involved but have not released any details to maintain the integrity of the investigation. Morales added, “We don’t want to jeopardize our ability to prosecute anyone responsible for this tragic incident, which has impacted our South Florida community.”
As of now, no suspects are in custody, although authorities have interviewed a person of interest. Morales reassured the public that the investigation is ongoing, stating, “We’re confident that we will uncover the truth behind this tragic event.”
