Chiefs’ Xavier Worthy Runs for a Touchdown, Presents Ball to His Mom on Her Birthday

Wide receiver Xavier Worthy of the Kansas City Chiefs gave his mother, Nicky Jones, the greatest birthday gift! Jones was at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, October 7, supporting her 21-year-old son and the Kansas City Chiefs, when they played the New Orleans Saints. It was Jones’ birthday, so when he scored a three-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to help the Chiefs win 26–13, Worthy excitedly gave the game ball to his mother. To begin the season, it was the team’s fifth straight victory.

The wide receiver quickly raced to the endzone after receiving the pass from tight end Travis Kelce, then gave the ball to his mother in the bleachers before they exchanged hugs. “Xavier Worthy says his mom Nicky is his best friend,” Lisa Salters, a sideline reporter for Monday Night Football, said. “He claims that she gave birth to him at the age of 18, making her essentially his sister. “Our relationship is really close,” he remarked. She’s meant the world to me. She has simply supported me at every turn. We share a unique bond. Always be talking.”

The wide receiver, who broke the record by running the 40-yard sprint in under 4.21 seconds at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, was drafted in April and is in his rookie season. Taylor Swift, Kelce’s fiancée, showed her support for the former Texas Longhorns star by liking an Instagram video of the NFL rookie being picked.

Jones has demonstrated her support for her son on X, where she posts throughout Worthy’s games. She stated in a January 2024 tweet that having him as a mother is “one of my greatest joys in life.” “Thank you for representing yourself, family, & city the way you did these past 3 yrs. No problems off the field. participated in every game, despite being hurt,” Jones wrote. “Persevered during tough times & stayed modest at good times. One of my biggest delights in life is being your mother! Really appreciative!” Before facing the San Francisco 49ers on October 20, Worthy and the Chiefs will enjoy a bye week.
