In an emotional Instagram Story, Jackman, who worked with Williams during his 2019 tour The Man. The Music. The Show urged the public to help in the search. “Please… if anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of Zelig Williams, please reach out to your local authorities,” he wrote. Williams’ family reported him missing to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department on October 4, just a day after he was last seen. They expressed concern, stating that it was “out of character” for him to be unreachable for an extended period. His vehicle was later discovered in a parking lot near Congaree National Park, about 20 miles from Columbia, without any apparent damage, despite reports of an SOS alert sent from his phone indicating a car crash.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott provided an update, explaining that search efforts have included various investigative techniques, including tracking Williams’ cellphone data. Lott emphasized that while foul play has not been ruled out, the case is currently being treated as a missing person investigation. His cousin, Mieoki Corbin-Jacobs, expressed the overwhelming sense of loss in an interview with local news station WIS10. “It’s devastation for someone so close to his family to just disappear like that… there’s no way to describe it,” Corbin-Jacobs said. She described the dancer as a beloved figure in the family who maintained close ties despite his demanding career on Broadway.

A native of Columbia, Williams had recently begun teaching dance classes in his hometown. In a social media post from September 17, he promoted his upcoming Broadway Dance Bootcamp, an event aimed at helping aspiring dancers improve their performance skills and audition preparation. Williams is described as a Black male with a light complexion, standing 6 feet tall and weighing around 150 pounds. He has short black hair, brown eyes, and a distinctive birthmark on his throat.
