Ely Vasquez-Reyes arrested for public intoxication
A 34-year-old Plymouth man was arrested early Friday morning after being found in the middle of Michigan Street near Louisa Street.
Plymouth Police Officers discovered the man, later identified as Ely Vasquez-Reyes of the 400 block of Williams Street, standing in the middle of Michigan Street at 3:45 A.M. on October 11. As officers approached, they observed him nearly being hit by oncoming traffic. After a brief investigation, it was determined that Vasquez-Reyes was highly intoxicated. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was charged with Public Intoxication and held on a $250 cash bond.
According to authorities, the incident highlights the dangers of being intoxicated in public, especially in high-traffic areas during early morning hours. Police reminded residents that public intoxication not only poses a risk to the individual but also to others on the road. They urged the public to seek safe transportation options if under the influence and avoid putting themselves or others in harm’s way. Vasquez-Reyes is expected to appear in court once his bond conditions are met.
