A young couple in South Florida is making a significant impact by combining their cultural heritage with a passion for environmental stewardship. Jean Navarro and his girlfriend, Ana Perez, co-founded Mega Bee Rescues, a company dedicated to bee removal, relocation, and pest control. Both are registered beekeepers and have quickly become well-known for their efforts, not only locally but across the United States.
A Family Legacy of Pest Control and Beekeeping
Jean Navarro credits his father for inspiring him to enter the pest management industry. “My father was the one who planted the seed of pest control,” Navarro shared. His father, an immigrant from Peru, started his own pest control business in South Florida, laying the foundation for what would later become a family tradition.
At one of their properties in Homestead, the couple manages 75 boxes of rescued bees, each containing frames of comb that house millions of bees. Their work is not only a business but a tribute to the risks their parents took when they emigrated to the U.S. “They took a huge risk to go from where they were to where we are today,” Navarro reflected, acknowledging the struggles his father faced as a non-English speaking immigrant starting a new life and business from scratch.
