Passengers were later transferred to a Canadian Air Force aircraft, which departed at 3:54 a.m. local time and is expected to arrive in Chicago at 7:48 a.m. U.S. time. The airline praised the cooperation that allowed for the continuation of the flight despite the unsettling situation.

Multiple Bomb Threats Across Indian Flights

The bomb threat to Air India flight AI127 was not an isolated incident. On Tuesday, a total of seven Indian flights received bomb threats, leading to heightened security measures and emergency landings in some cases. In addition to the New Delhi-Chicago flight, other airlines were also affected, including Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, and Alliance Air.

One of the impacted flights was the Jaipur-Bengaluru Air India Express, which received a similar threat, though it did not require diversion. Other flights facing threats included the Dammam-Lucknow IndiGo flight and the Darbhanga-Mumbai SpiceJet flight. The Siliguri-Bengaluru Akasa Air flight, Amritsar-Dehradun-Delhi Alliance Air flight, and the Madurai-Singapore Air India Express flight also received bomb threats on the same day. These security alerts led to increased vigilance across India’s aviation sector, with emergency landings and precautionary checks conducted to ensure passenger safety.

Previous Day’s Threats Add to Growing Concerns

The bomb threats on Tuesday followed similar incidents the day before. On Monday, three international flights originating from Mumbai were also impacted by security concerns. Among them was the Mumbai-New York Air India flight, which was carrying 239 passengers. The flight was diverted to Delhi for security checks after receiving a bomb threat. Additionally, two IndiGo flights from Mumbai were affected. IndiGo 6E 1275, en route to Muscat, and IndiGo 6E 56, bound for Jeddah, faced delays and precautionary security measures due to similar threats.

Increased Security Measures in Aviation

In light of these incidents, Indian authorities and airlines are on high alert, with security protocols being enforced more rigorously. The series of bomb threats has caused concern among passengers and airlines alike, as they disrupt travel plans and necessitate emergency responses. Air India and other airlines have assured passengers that safety is their top priority, and all necessary measures are being taken to address security concerns.
