Woman who killed pregnant victim she met on Facebook, cut fetus from her womb and ‘claimed’ child as her own is sentenced
A Missouri woman was sentenced in court for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a woman and her unborn child in 2022. A federal judge sentenced Amber Waterman to two consecutive life sentences, one for each of the counts against her. Waterman, 44, was accused with both causing the murder of an unborn child and kidnapping that resulted in death. In July, she entered a guilty plea to these counts.
According to Ozarks First, she has also been forced to pay $105,000 in restitution. According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri, Waterman essentially acknowledged that she had abducted Ashley Bush, 33, in order to claim the unborn child as her own. Jamie Waterman, Waterman’s spouse, also entered a guilty plea to one count of aiding and abetting a kidnapping that resulted in death. He has not yet received a sentence.
Teresa Moore, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, issued a statement saying, “This horrifying crime led to the tragic deaths of two innocent victims.” “This defendant’s guilty plea today guarantees that justice will be done and makes her responsible for her conduct. She now faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of release from federal prison. Bush family members said that Waterman had “a black soul” or was the “face of Satan” during her sentence hearing. “I prayed that the “pain comes back tenfold” to Waterman,” one family added. According to autopsy results, Bush was killed by penetrating trauma to her torso. Her death was ruled a homicide.
