The body of 61-year-old Lola Karabaeva, who had been reported missing, was found wrapped in plastic and duct-taped to a board in a closet at her Northeast Philadelphia home on Wednesday, according to police sources.

Karabaeva, reported missing by friends on Sunday, was discovered at her residence on the 9000 block of Diplomat Place in the Bustleton neighborhood. Her friends last spoke with her on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 2:30 a.m.

Detectives revisited her home on Wednesday to further investigate the missing person’s case. During the search, they found her body inside a closet, where she was pronounced dead at 10:13 a.m. Police believe she had been dead for several days, though the exact cause of death has yet to be determined.

Karabaeva’s husband, Vladimir Lushevskiy, has been arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse, with additional charges potentially forthcoming. Surveillance footage showed Karabaeva arriving at her home early on Oct. 12, the last time she was seen. Later that day, Lushevskiy was captured on video leaving the house.
