Police Search for Suspect in Miami Car Theft During Test Drive

28

Miami police are actively searching for a man who allegedly stole a car from Prado Auto Sales during a test drive on September 28. The incident occurred at the dealership located on Southwest 8th Street, where the suspect, posing as a potential customer, managed to make off with a white 2019 Infiniti Q50.

Alejandro Prado, vice president of the dealership, described the suspect as appearing very comfortable and at ease while inquiring about several vehicles. “He looked like he was the most comfortable, like he was walking around in familiar territory, asking questions about different types of cars,” Prado said. “Very casual, he looked relaxed, he looked like he had done this before.”

After showing interest in the Infiniti, the man requested a test drive, which the dealership provided. According to Prado, everything seemed normal at the start of the drive. However, just a few blocks into the test drive, the suspect made an unusual request. “About four or five blocks down the road, he tells my salesman that he preferred if my salesman drove the car back to the dealer, he felt something not right, some kind of noise,” Prado explained.

In a move that would quickly escalate into theft, the suspect convinced the salesman to switch seats. Once the suspect was behind the wheel, he drove off, leaving the salesman stranded. The suspect has not been seen since, and the car has yet to be recovered.

The police are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, who remains at large. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with potential witnesses as part of their investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Miami-Dade Police Department.
