Driver Dies in Red-Light Crash at Manatee County Intersection, Florida Highway Patrol Reports

A tragic crash claimed the life of a Bradenton woman after she ran a red light at a Manatee County intersection late Sunday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The fatal accident occurred at 9:48 p.m. at the intersection of 30th Avenue East and U.S. 41/South Tamiami Trail.

According to the FHP, the crash involved a 48-year-old woman from Bradenton who was driving a sedan westbound on 30th Avenue East. As she approached the intersection, where the light was red for her lane, she failed to stop. At the same time, a 27-year-old man from Holiday, Florida, was driving a pickup truck northbound on U.S. 41, approaching the green light.

The woman’s sedan struck the passenger side of the man’s pickup truck in the intersection. The force of the collision was severe, and tragically, the Bradenton woman died at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was rushed to HCA Florida Blake Hospital with serious injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further details regarding the condition of the man have been released at this time.
