In Plumas County, search teams have successfully located a 16-year-old girl who had been reported missing during a hiking trip with her dog. The young hiker went missing while exploring the area, prompting a concerted effort from rescue crews to find her. Fortunately, she has now been found safe and sound.
On Monday at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office announced that they had successfully located Camila “Mila” Schweyer, the 16-year-old who had been missing. After being found, she was being escorted out of the area to receive medical evaluation. However, the sheriff’s office did not disclose the specific location where she was found. Additionally, there was no information provided regarding the status of her dog, which is described as a small Chihuahua-type.
According to the sheriff’s office, Camila “Mila” Schweyer was initially dropped off by her mother for a hiking trip near Elwell Lodge over the weekend. However, when she had not returned by 6 p.m. on Sunday, her mother grew concerned and decided to contact the authorities for assistance in locating her.
Search and rescue teams from Plumas County, along with a helicopter from the California Highway Patrol, were deployed to locate Camila “Mila” Schweyer. They conducted extensive searches throughout the night in hopes of finding her, but despite their efforts, they were unable to locate her during that time.
On Monday morning, local officials submitted a request for mutual aid to the California Office of Emergency Services to enhance the search efforts for Camila “Mila” Schweyer. In addition to this, aircraft from the California Highway Patrol returned to assist in the ongoing search operations, contributing additional resources and support in the hope of locating her.
The sheriff’s office indicated that additional information would be provided shortly.
