David Hasselhoff has paid tribute to his “Baywatch” co-star, Michael Newman, who passed away at the age of 68. Newman, best known for his role as lifeguard Mike “Newmie” Newman on the hit show, died on Sunday, though news of his death was made public on Tuesday.

“Newman was a warrior… he literally saved my life at least four times,” Hasselhoff, 72, shared in a statement to The Post. “He executed the transfer from the scarab to jet skis perfectly several times. What an amazing man. He was never afraid of the water.”

Reflecting on their time together, Hasselhoff added, “I remember directing him in a few episodes, and he was really good. He became a great actor. We will all miss him.”

Newman passed away after an 18-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, a condition he was diagnosed with at age 50 in 2006. His death, confirmed by close friend Matt Felker, was attributed to heart complications. He was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his passing.
