Months after 18-year-old Bryanna Nina was fatally shot in North Lauderdale, authorities have arrested a suspect linked to the incident.

Tragic Shooting and Arrest

Tyler Mobley, 23, was apprehended on Monday in Sunrise and is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with Nina’s death. Broward Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed Mobley’s arrest, which comes after months of investigation following the deadly July 15 shooting.

Nina had been with one of her sisters at a friend’s house that night, waiting outside for an Uber to take them home. According to detectives, the shooting occurred when several individuals emerged from a vehicle and opened fire. Nina was struck multiple times and was rushed to the hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

Detectives quickly identified Mobley as a suspect, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest. Alongside the murder charge, Mobley faces additional charges for violating probation. Records from the Florida Department of Corrections show that Mobley had been placed on probation in January for prior offenses, including fleeing, eluding authorities, carrying a concealed firearm, and burglary.

A Mother’s Pain and Relief

Nina’s mother, Marisol Rivas, expressed mixed emotions following Mobley’s arrest, balancing a sense of relief with ongoing grief. She voiced gratitude that justice is being served but emphasized that nothing can fill the void left by her daughter’s death. Rivas described her daughter as a bright, vibrant young woman with a promising future ahead of her. She questioned the senselessness of the crime, struggling to understand why her daughter’s life was taken in such a brutal manner. Though the arrest offers a small sense of closure, Rivas acknowledged that the pain of losing her daughter will never fully subside. She said she copes with the grief day by day, finding solace in the fact that awareness is being raised and justice is finally being pursued. “There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t feel like something is missing,” Rivas said. “But having him in jail is a start.”

Unintended Target

In a tragic twist, detectives informed Rivas that her daughter was not the intended target of the shooting. This revelation further underscores the senseless nature of the crime, adding to the family’s anguish. As the investigation unfolds, the hope remains that the arrest will bring some measure of justice and help prevent future tragedies.
