A Miami man, Marcos Gonzalez-Bernal, has been arrested for his alleged role in a bold heist involving $100,000 worth of frozen bacon. Police say the theft took place in the early hours of September 2 when a refrigerated trailer holding 192 pounds of frozen bacon, valued at $80,000, disappeared from a Daytona Beach parking lot. Surveillance footage revealed a blue SUV and a semi-truck connecting to the trailer before driving off.

Authorities tracked the trailer south with help from license plate readers and later located Gonzalez-Bernal driving a matching vehicle. Already on probation for previous cargo theft charges, Gonzalez-Bernal was initially arrested for driving with a suspended license.

Evidence from his cell phones placed him at the scene of the theft, leading to further charges. The stolen trailer was ultimately recovered on September 24, and Gonzalez-Bernal now faces charges of grand theft of cargo and vehicle, among others. His bond has been set at $30,000.
