Thirteen years after creating a community-driven Facebook page, Wanda Tima’s account was hacked, and her platform was hijacked for political propaganda, showcasing pro-Trump and anti-Democratic content. This incident occurred due to a phishing scam, where hackers tricked Tima into sharing her account details.

According to cybersecurity expert Iskander Sanchez-Rola from Norton, phishing scams lure victims into thinking they’re interacting with a legitimate contact, but in reality, they’re dealing with scammers aiming to steal personal information and take control of accounts.

Tima’s experience is a reminder of the growing sophistication of phishing schemes that impact users across social platforms. Cybersecurity awareness and vigilance are essential for protecting online accounts, as hackers use increasingly deceptive tactics.
