Donald Armstrong, who was shot by Miami Police during a confrontation in Model City in March, has been officially cleared of any criminal wrongdoing in the incident. The shooting occurred on March 7 at a home on Northwest 7th Court and was captured on cellphone video by a witness.

Armstrong’s mother had called 911, concerned about her son’s behavior and suggesting he may have been under the influence of narcotics. Officers arrived at the scene and, according to the report, found Armstrong in a distressed state, which led to the confrontation. Following a thorough investigation, authorities determined that the officers acted within their rights given the circumstances of the encounter.

In the aftermath of the incident, community members expressed mixed feelings about the police response, raising questions about mental health resources and the appropriate handling of similar situations in the future. Armstrong’s clearing of charges may also spark discussions about police tactics and the need for better training in dealing with individuals experiencing mental health crises.
