Suzanne Simpson’s Husband Files Motion to See His Children Amid His Detention

Brad Simpson, husband of the missing Texas mother of four, Suzanne Simpson, is seeking permission to communicate with his children while in custody. Simpson’s attorney, Stephen Gilmore, filed a formal motion to the Bexar County Court on Monday, requesting that Simpson, 53, be allowed to see his children, none of whom are involved in the criminal charges against him. In his motion, Gilmore emphasized that there is no evidence connecting the children to Simpson’s current charges, nor does he present any risk to their safety.

Ongoing Investigation and Charges

Simpson faces multiple charges, including family assault causing bodily injury, unlawful restraint, possession of a prohibited weapon, and most recently, tampering with evidence. His bond is set at $3 million. The tampering charge was issued after Simpson allegedly asked his business associate, James Valle Cotter, to hide an AK-47 firearm in Cotter’s San Antonio home. Cotter, 65, reportedly concealed the weapon inside a wall, which was later discovered by a K-9 team from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Cotter was subsequently arrested and charged with tampering with evidence, and his bond was set at $500,000.

Suzanne was last seen following a heated argument with Brad at a local club in the San Antonio area. According to Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas, a “disturbance” between the couple was reported at the Argyle club that evening. A neighbor’s statement, detailed in an arrest affidavit, recounts seeing Brad and Suzanne struggling physically on the night of October 6. According to the witness, Suzanne appeared to be trying to break free from Brad’s grip as he attempted to pull her downward. Later that evening, the neighbor noted Brad’s black GMC pickup leaving the area and returning approximately one or two hours later.

As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement officials remain focused on locating Suzanne, who has been missing for over two weeks. The court has yet to make a ruling on Simpson’s request to see his children, and the family is left waiting for any updates in the case.
