Cardinals Edge Dolphins 28-27 with Last-Second Field Goal, Spoiling Tua Tagovailoa’s Return
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Kyler Murray’s confidence never wavered. Even with the Arizona Cardinals trailing by two scores in the fourth quarter, he trusted in his ability to rally the team.
Murray led the Cardinals on a final drive, setting up kicker Chad Ryland for a game-winning field goal as time expired. With this clutch 34-yard kick, Arizona claimed a 28-27 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, spoiling Tua Tagovailoa’s comeback after a concussion.
“I like us,” Murray said post-game. “I want the ball in my hands. I want the ball in our hands. With the talent we have offensively, if we stay on track and execute, I believe we can be one of the top offenses in the league.” In a thrilling finish, Murray orchestrated two critical fourth-quarter drives to erase a nine-point deficit. The first drive ended with a 2-yard touchdown run by James Conner, narrowing Miami’s lead to 27-25. The second was a composed, 13-play, 71-yard march that took the final five minutes, culminating in Ryland’s 34-yard kick. This marks Ryland’s second consecutive week as Arizona’s hero; last week, he nailed a 32-yard field goal to beat the Los Angeles Chargers 17-15.
The Cardinals (4-4) have now strung together back-to-back wins for the first time since October 2021. Rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. was a standout with six catches for 111 yards and a touchdown, while tight end Trey McBride had a career day with nine catches for 124 yards. This is the first time since September 2021 that Arizona has had two receivers top 100 yards in the same game, further highlighting the growing strength of their offense.
