Missing San Antonio Mother’s Disappearance Sparks Fears of Foul Play

46

SAN ANTONIO – The mother of a 4-year-old boy has been missing for over three months, and now her mother and the boy’s grandmother fear she may have been killed.

Valerie Mendoza, mother of Kate Vara, says her daughter was last seen on August 6. The family, including 4-year-old James, marked Vara’s 27th birthday without her on September 8.

In a similar heartbreaking case, the head of Ireland’s police force, An Garda Síochána, spoke on the disappearance of schoolchild Kyran Durnin. Commissioner Drew Harris, a 40-year police veteran, called the circumstances of Kyran’s case “extraordinary” and “difficult to comprehend.” Kyran, reported missing at the end of August, is now presumed dead, prompting gardaí to launch a murder investigation. Harris assured that authorities are “pursuing this with full vigor.”
