A Halloween celebration in Orlando’s bustling downtown bar and restaurant district took a horrifying turn early Friday when a gunman opened fire, killing two and injuring several others.

Thousands had gathered in costumes to enjoy the night when chaos erupted around 1 a.m. A 17-year-old male suspect was swiftly arrested, according to Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith, though a motive remains unknown. - A 19-year-old woman with a gunshot wound in her upper back, with the bullet lodging in her cheek
- A 26-year-old woman who was injured in the chaos as crowds fled
In addition, a 10th person arrived at the hospital independently and was reported to be in stable condition. The University of Central Florida confirmed that one of the deceased and one of the injured were students, stating in a public message, “Our thoughts are with all the loved ones affected during this unimaginable time.”
