Investigation Clears MrBeast’s Company of Sexual Misconduct Allegations

A third-party investigation into MrBeast’s company has determined that the allegations of sexual misconduct are “unfounded.”

On Friday, a law firm that looked into allegations of sexual misconduct and grooming involving YouTube star MrBeast announced it found no evidence to back those claims. The investigation was prompted by accusations against Ava Tyson, a regular collaborator of MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson. Public claims alleged that Ms. Tyson had used inappropriate language and engaged in grooming behavior with a minor.

The law firm, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, which was retained by Mr. Donaldson’s company, stated in its report that it conducted 39 interviews with current and former employees over three months and reviewed over four million documents from phones, emails, and various messaging platforms.

“Allegations of sexual misconduct (e.g., pedophilia, grooming, child pornography, etc.) between company employees and minors are without basis,” the report said. “The allegations were soundly rejected, including by alleged victims.”

Accusations began circulating online this year after social media users scrutinized interactions between Ava Tyson and a minor known as LavaGS, which took place when she was 20 and he was 13. Both denied any predatory conduct at that time.

In July, as the public outcry intensified, Ms. Tyson acknowledged the allegations. Still, she denied any wrongdoing, expressing regret for any “past behavior or comments that may have hurt or offended anyone.” She decided to step back from MrBeast’s company and her social media presence.

The following day, Mr. Donaldson, who runs a YouTube channel with 326 million subscribers and has transformed it into a major marketing entity, revealed that he would be parting ways with Ms. Tyson. He also stated in a post on X that he had hired an independent investigator to look into the matter.

“I’ve seen enough online and taken immediate action to remove Ava from the company, my channel, and any association with MrBeast,” he wrote on social media. “I do not condone or support any of the inappropriate actions.”

On Friday, LavaGS took to social media to respond to the law firm’s findings, stating that he had participated in an interview during the investigation.

“I was not groomed, these were false allegations made up by other people with my name thrown in them,” he wrote on X. “This investigation was conducted by real investigators and not internet detectives. They reviewed everything.”

The findings were released during a challenging year for Mr. Donaldson’s channel, which is famous for its elaborate stunts, such as real-life recreations of “Squid Game” and large cash giveaways. This summer, an older video resurfaced online in which Mr. Donaldson made remarks about purchasing Black individuals.

At that time, a representative stated that “after making some inappropriate jokes and other mistakes in his youth, he has since focused on connecting with the MrBeast community to create a positive impact globally.”

In September, a group of contestants from Mr. Donaldson’s competitive series “Beast Games” filed a lawsuit against the production companies, alleging that they were exposed to hazardous conditions during filming. The contestants claimed they did not receive sufficient food or medical care and that they had not been fairly compensated for their participation.

While the law firm’s report found no evidence of sexual misconduct, it did highlight several unnamed “isolated instances of workplace harassment and misconduct.” The report noted that the company took swift action to address these issues.

“The company has already implemented or is in the process of implementing changes to ensure a safe and professional corporate culture today and moving forward,” the report said.
