Cumberland Police Arrest Man After Alleged Assault and Vehicle Damage Incident

On November 3rd, 2024, at around 2:30 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to a report of an assault near the 220 Park and Ride. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victims, who reported that a man, identified as 47-year-old Matthew Michael Logsdon from Hyndman, PA, had caused significant damage to their vehicle and attempted to assault them using his own car.

According to the victims, Logsdon approached their vehicle and began his attack by jumping onto the hood, kicking the windshield, and damaging the glass. He then reportedly tore off a side-view mirror before getting back into his car. Moments later, he allegedly drove his vehicle head-on into the victims’ SUV, causing further damage.

Officers at the scene inspected the vehicles and confirmed the visible damage aligned with the victims’ statements. Following the investigation, Logsdon was arrested and taken to Central Booking. After a hearing with a District Court Commissioner, he was remanded to the Allegany Detention Center without bond.
