Family Sues British Airways Over Death of Man Who Suffered Asthma Attack on Flight

The family of a man who tragically died following an asthma attack on a British Airways flight from London to New York is now suing the airline, alleging that flight attendants failed to take appropriate action during the emergency. The lawsuit, filed by Shimon Breuer’s brother in Brooklyn federal court, claims that the cabin crew never made an announcement asking if there was a doctor on board and did not provide the necessary medical attention in time to save Breuer’s life.

According to the wrongful death suit, Breuer, 25, began experiencing severe difficulty breathing about an hour before the plane was set to land. Described as gasping for air and begging for help, Breuer’s condition worsened quickly. The lawsuit alleges that despite his distress, the flight attendants did not provide prompt or proper medical care, ultimately leading to his death.

At the time of the incident, reports indicated that Breuer had accidentally dropped his rescue inhaler between the seats, making it impossible for him to administer the medication he needed. As his condition worsened, Breuer lost consciousness, and the crew attempted CPR and oxygen administration. However, it was revealed that the airline staff did not recognize that his airways had completely closed due to the asthma attack, which may have rendered their efforts futile.

The family now seeks justice for the loss of their loved one, citing negligence on the part of British Airways. The lawsuit argues that had the flight attendants acted more swiftly and properly, they could have potentially saved Breuer’s life.
