An intense search effort is unfolding in New York City as the parents of a 21-year-old woman with autism report that she vanished without a trace just days ago. According to the family, they woke up recently to discover their daughter was missing, sparking widespread concern and a determined search to bring her home safely. Local authorities and community members are joining together in hopes of finding the young woman, whose sudden disappearance has left her loved ones desperate for answers.

“Our family, our community. We love her so much and we just want her home and safe,” said Amanda Sadlier, with tears streaming down her face.
With heavy hearts, Sadlier and her husband, Dan, have issued an urgent plea to all New Yorkers, hoping the community will help in their search for their missing daughter, Markeysha. She disappeared unexpectedly the day after Halloween, leaving her parents distraught and desperate for any information about her whereabouts. As they tirelessly continue their search, the couple is calling on the public for support and assistance, hoping that someone might have seen or heard something that could help bring their beloved daughter back home.
“We realized that she was not there and that she had left her cellphone and had left our apartment, which isn’t something she would ever do,” the worried mother said.
Markeysha’s parents are deeply worried, as she has no history of running away, which makes her sudden disappearance all the more troubling. They fear that she may be in danger and are increasingly concerned for her safety. The fact that this behavior is completely out of character for their daughter only heightens their alarm, as they anxiously await any news that might explain what happened or help bring her back home safely.
“She’s now on day six without her meds, which are very crucial based on her brain surgery that she had in January alongside with some of the impairments that she lives with on a daily basis. It’s dangerous that she’s out there this long without them,” said Dan Sadlier. “We are nervous and somewhat worried that she was actually lured away. Left the house Friday morning without saying goodbye to anybody including her siblings which has never happened.”
Years ago, Amanda and Dan opened their hearts and home to Markeysha through adoption, forming a close-knit family dedicated not only to each other but also to their community. Known for their compassionate work, the couple manages a soup kitchen in Queens, providing meals to those in need. Additionally, they both serve as pastors at Mosaic Church, located within the historic Chapel of the Good Shepherd on Roosevelt Island. Their deep commitment to helping others has earned them a respected place within the community, making Markeysha’s sudden disappearance resonate all the more profoundly with those who know and care about the family.
Amanda and Dan, who have spent years dedicating themselves to the service of others, now face an unimaginable situation where they are the ones in desperate need of support. Their lives have been centered on lifting up those around them—running a soup kitchen and ministering to their community. Yet now, as they search for their missing daughter, Markeysha, they find themselves turning to the same community they’ve cared for, hoping that someone will come forward to help bring her home safely.
“She has such a distinct pretty face. Memorize her face and just be looking for her,” her mother said.
Markeysha, who recently graduated from high school, had been working a retail job and building her independence. Known for her gentle and curious spirit, she loves exploring New York City’s unique neighborhoods, often visiting libraries and taking in the sights of Times Square, Chinatown, and Central Park. Her parents recall her joy in these simple activities, highlighting just how much she enjoys discovering her surroundings. At the time of her disappearance, she was last seen wearing a black denim jacket, white sneakers, and carrying a brown leather purse. Markeysha is also easily recognizable by her long braids and glasses, adding to the details her family hopes will help someone spot her and bring her back home safely.
The NYPD has confirmed that they are actively investigating the disappearance of Markeysha. For Amanda and Dan Sadlier, who are now living through every parent’s worst nightmare, they have a heartfelt message for their missing daughter.

“Markeysha is a gift for thousands of people in this city and beyond. We have seen it time and time again. For Markeysha to understand your worth and your value and the gift that you are to people,” said Dan.

“Just come home. We miss you so much,” added Amanda.
