BUFFALO, N.Y. – The family and friends of Mackenzie Michalski, a Western New York native who disappeared in Europe, are urgently seeking help to continue their search. It has been three days since anyone has heard from Michalski, who was last seen in Budapest, Hungary. Originally from Fredonia, New York, Michalski currently resides in Portland, Oregon.

Michalski had been on a European vacation celebrating her birthday with close friend Gretchen Tower. The trip, filled with sightseeing and exploration, ended abruptly in Hungary, where Michalski was last seen. According to her family, Michalski was scheduled to fly back to the U.S. on Tuesday, but she never boarded her flight.

“This is a nightmare,” said Tower, describing the distress over Michalski’s sudden disappearance. “We had a great three days in Hungary—exploring, eating, walking the city,” Tower shared, recalling the last memories they shared.

As the search continues, Michalski’s family is requesting additional resources and public assistance to help bring her home. They are asking for anyone with information or connections in Europe to help locate her. With each passing day, the urgency to locate Michalski grows, and her family hopes that awareness and support from the public will assist in finding her.

Local authorities in Hungary, as well as U.S. officials, are involved in the search efforts. For Michalski’s family and friends, the days have been filled with uncertainty, fear, and a determination to reunite with her.

Anyone with information about Michalski’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact local authorities. The Michalski family is also sharing updates and seeking help on social media, hoping that the increased visibility will bring them closer to answers and, ultimately, bring Mackenzie home.
