Roy Jones Jr makes shock Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul prediction… ‘It’s like a mule kick in the chest’
On November 15, Tyson will return to the ring to face contentious YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. It will be only his third time in the ring since 2005, when he was stopped by unknown heavyweight Kevin McBride, and his first professional fight since then. Since retirement, he has participated in two exhibitions: one against Jones in November 2020 and another against Corey Sanders in 2006. The second one became one of the top ten highest-selling pay-per-views in boxing history, whereas the first one was a box office bust.
In November 2020, more than 1.6 million viewers saw Roy Jones Jr. and Mike Tyson square off in an eight-round exhibition on pay-per-view. The bout ended in a draw, as the two fought under extremely strict restrictions while wearing larger gloves. Despite this, Tyson continued to deliver some of the most powerful blows Jones has ever experienced. “When you go out there and look at Mike, you have an understanding of who and what Mike is,” he remarked in an interview with Andre Ward for All The Smoke Fight.
“But you don’t realize that you really have a hard time striking him with that small side-to-side movement that I never thought about much before. Therefore, the fact that he is still able to dodge punches in the same manner as before was probably the most exciting thing to me. I believe that I have some of the fastest hands in boxing, and I’m thinking that there is absolutely no way that he could avoid my punches. However, I was taken aback when he managed to avoid them.
“When he first struck me in the chest at the age of 57, it felt like a mule had kicked me in the chest! “Oh my goodness, you’re not going to hit me anymore,” I exclaimed. Regarding Tyson and Paul’s match next week, Jones believes the outcome will ultimately be up to the renowned heavyweight. Despite having decades more expertise, the New Yorker must have undergone rigorous training to make up for the contentious 31-year age difference between them.
