Montgomery: Two teens in Montgomery County are now facing charges after police apprehended them for alleged drug activity involving fentanyl-laced pills. On November 1, officers investigating Glenmont observed suspicious behavior on Georgian Wood Place, where they witnessed an apparent drug exchange between an 18-year-old buyer from Riverdale and a 16-year-old seller. Police moved quickly to detain the pair without incident.
Fentanyl Pills and Evidence Recovered
Upon searching the teens, police discovered that the 18-year-old had 13 “M30” pills, known to contain fentanyl, a synthetic opioid with deadly potential even in small doses. The search revealed that the 16-year-old was holding 432 fentanyl-laced pills, along with drug-packaging materials and cash, suggesting he was involved in distribution. The quantity of fentanyl pills recovered highlights the growing concern about fentanyl’s presence in local communities and its impact on youth.
Teens Processed by Juvenile and District Services
The teens were processed at Montgomery County’s 4th District Station after their arrests. The 16-year-old seller was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services before being released to a guardian. Meanwhile, the 18-year-old buyer remains in custody and faces pending charges, though authorities have yet to specify the exact charges. The case emphasizes the severe risks and legal consequences tied to the possession and distribution of fentanyl, particularly for minors.
Police continue to combat the fentanyl crisis as they encounter increasing instances of fentanyl-laced substances entering communities. The incident serves as a reminder to the public, particularly young people, of the dangers of opioid-laced pills and the gravity of associated criminal charges.
