A Miami man was taken into custody after authorities reported that he stabbed his brother with a kitchen knife during an argument. The dispute allegedly started when the victim began “talking over” the food his brother was preparing, leading to a violent confrontation. Police say the attack occurred after tensions escalated over the kitchen disagreement.
Alexander Rodriguez, a 20-year-old man, was arrested on Wednesday night following an incident in which he allegedly stabbed his brother. He faces serious charges, including attempted felony murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. The arrest was confirmed through Miami-Dade jail records, which outlined the charges against him.
The disturbing incident unfolded at a residence located in the 5200 block of Southwest 8th Street, where Alexander Rodriguez and his brother live together.
According to the arrest report, the brothers were involved in a heated argument in the kitchen when the situation took a violent turn. During the argument, Rodriguez reportedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his brother in the neck, causing significant harm.
The altercation rapidly escalated from a verbal dispute to a life-threatening attack.
After the initial attack, the victim fled to his bedroom to escape further harm, but Rodriguez followed him and inflicted additional injuries, cutting him on his arm and face. Emergency responders, including officers and fire rescue personnel, arrived at the scene and found the victim attempting to stop the bleeding by holding clothing against his wounds. He was then transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition after receiving treatment.
After the altercation, Rodriguez fled the scene, but law enforcement quickly set up a perimeter around the area. He was eventually located hiding in a tree nearby. Once detained, a detective interviewed Rodriguez, who explained that the argument had started because he was cooking, and his brother was “talking over the food,” which had frustrated him. Rodriguez also stated that he was concerned his brother might try to grab the knife first, which led to the escalation of the incident. Following the interview, Rodriguez was arrested and taken into custody. At the time of the report, no attorney information was available.
