A 26-year-old Orlando woman, Esther Thelus, faces first-degree murder charges after allegedly setting herself and her two young sons on fire, according to the Orlando County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities report that on August 26, Thelus was captured on surveillance footage at a 7-Eleven, purchasing gasoline and other materials later used in the incident.

Detectives shared that Thelus had initially attempted to give up her 2-year-old son, taking him to his father’s home with plans to move to Fort Lauderdale. However, the father’s family requested a DNA test to verify paternity. After a period of time, the boy was returned to Thelus by the father’s mother.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials are piecing together the events leading up to this tragic incident. The case has raised questions about mental health and family dynamics, with community members expressing shock over the severe allegations.
