An Amber Alert issued for a 7-year-old girl who went missing from Jefferson County in northeastern Ohio has been successfully canceled after she was located safely on Monday night near Medina, in Medina County.

The young girl was initially reported abducted from Empire, a small village in Jefferson County situated along the Ohio River, close to the West Virginia panhandle. Following the alert, law enforcement from the Medina Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office launched a collaborative search, eventually confirming that the girl was found unharmed in Medina, roughly two hours from where she went missing.

Details about her recovery, including the specific location where she was found and her condition, have not yet been released. Authorities have also not disclosed the status or location of Charles Alexander, who is suspected to be the girl’s noncustodial father and alleged abductor.

The case remains under investigation as law enforcement works to ensure the child’s continued safety and determine the events that led to her disappearance.
