Family members of a 36-year-old woman from Playa Vista, who has been missing for almost two weeks, have traveled from various parts of the country in a desperate effort to locate her. Chanel Banks, originally from out of state, moved to Los Angeles more than ten years ago with the hopes of building a career in acting.
Her cousin, Danielle-Tori Singh, spoke about the heartbreaking situation, expressing disbelief that her first trip to California would be under such distressing circumstances. Singh explained that she and the rest of the family have been left in shock, as Banks has not been heard from since late October, leaving them with growing concern and uncertainty about her whereabouts.
“The last text we got from her before her phone went off the grid was Oct. 30,” Singh explained. “I’m not going to leave California until I find my cousin.”
When Danielle-Tori Singh discovered that Chanel Banks’ phone was dead, and noticed that her car and dog were still at her apartment in Playa Vista, along Jefferson Boulevard, she immediately contacted the authorities. Concerned for Banks’ safety, Singh alerted the police, prompting an official investigation.
The Los Angeles Police Department has since confirmed that they are actively looking into the case of the missing aspiring actress. Authorities have carried out four separate welfare checks at her apartment, which has only deepened the worries of Banks’ family and friends. These repeated checks have fueled growing fear that something serious or even tragic may have happened to her, leaving her loved ones in a state of uncertainty and distress.
“We love you so much,” Singh said, trying to hold back tears. “We just want to know you’re okay and that you’re safe and that nobody did anything to you.”
At this time, Chanel Banks’ husband does not seem to be actively participating in the search efforts alongside his wife’s family. He has not made any public statements or responded to KTLA’s attempts to reach him for comment.
As the investigation continues and the family remains uncertain about what may have happened to Banks, her mother, Judy Singh, has traveled from New York to Los Angeles to assist with the search. In the midst of this difficult and emotional time, Judy has asked for the public’s support through prayer, hoping for answers and the safe return of her daughter.
“Pray for my daughter because at this point, we don’t know exactly [what happened],” the worried mother said. “We are hearing stuff here and there, people saying this and that, but I know that’s not my daughter.”
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist Chanel Banks’ family in their ongoing search for her. The funds raised will help cover the costs of hiring a private investigator to aid in the investigation, as well as other expenses the family is incurring while they remain in Los Angeles. The family is relying on the generosity of others to support them during this difficult and distressing time as they continue their desperate efforts to locate their missing loved one.
