Tragic Boat Crash Near Key Largo Leaves One Dead, Two Hospitalized

KEY WEST — A boating accident near Key Largo turned fatal on Saturday morning, leaving one man dead and two others injured. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) and several other agencies responded to the incident, which occurred shortly after 10:25 a.m. near Card Sound, northwest of North Carson Road and Pumpkin Key.

 Following reports of the accident, MDFR dispatched multiple fire boats and two Air Rescue helicopters to the scene. Crews from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) also responded to assist in the rescue operations.

Two people were rescued by MDFR Air Rescue and transported to Jackson South Trauma Center for medical treatment. The USCG deployed divers to search the water, where a third individual was located. Despite efforts to save him, 21-year-old Eytan M. Genoune of Boynton Beach was later pronounced dead from his injuries, according to the FWC.

Authorities have yet to release additional details about the cause of the accident, and the condition of the two injured individuals has not been disclosed. The FWC is investigating the incident to determine what led to this tragic collision.
