Following the shooting death of a man on a Glassport street on Sunday afternoon, Allegheny County Police are conducting an investigation. Police and ambulances were called to the intersection of Monongahela Avenue and 6th Street at 2:45 p.m., according to Allegheny County dispatchers. In front of a senior center and the bus stop at the corner, officers discovered 18-year-old James Macke Jr. dead. For a large portion of the afternoon, homicide investigators gathered evidence.

In the middle of the day, the shooting shocked the local shop owners and neighbors on the street corner. Living just a short distance from the shooting site, Patty Smith witnessed the crime scene. “It’s a pretty decent neighborhood, so I was shocked. Smith stated, “You don’t hear nothing like that going on.” He was only eighteen when he heard that. Simply put, it’s unfortunate.

According to detectives, Macke Jr. and two other guys got into an argument before the shooting occurred. Before departing the scene, one of the males allegedly drew a revolver and shot the victim. The ages of the other two individuals involved in the altercation were not disclosed by the police. Police were informed by witnesses that the alleged shooter fled on a PRT bus. He was later taken into prison by Clairton Police. Allegheny County Police identified the suspect as McKeesport resident James Martin, 17, just before midnight. In addition to allegations of firearm crimes, he faces a criminal homicide charge.
