According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a 22-year-old male has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting death of a Spring Branch ISD employee. Antonio Guzman, the victim’s nephew, is accused of murder, according to the sheriff. On Sunday morning, Guzman was taken into custody. Jose Torres, 37, was found shot dead in his northwest Harris County house by his wife two days prior to the arrest.

According to Torres’ wife, he was meant to pick her and their children up from school at 2:30 p.m., but he never did. They got a ride home, she said. They discovered him at that point. The motivation in this instance is still unknown. On Sunday morning, Guzman was arrested and taken to the Harris County Jail. On Friday night, a Spring Branch ISD chaplain visited the family’s residence to offer support.
