Viola Davis to Receive Cecil B. DeMille Award at 2024 Golden Globes

Viola Davis, celebrated for her transformative performances and groundbreaking roles, will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 82nd annual Golden Globes on January 5. The accolade, one of the Golden Globes’ highest honors, recognizes Davis’s remarkable contributions to film and television.

With a career spanning powerful roles in films like Fences, The Woman King, The Help, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and Doubt, Davis has become a towering figure in Hollywood. She also captivated TV audiences with her Emmy-winning performance in How to Get Away with Murder.

Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne described Davis as a “luminary” whose commitment to her craft has had a lasting impact on the industry.

“Viola’s courage in portraying complex, powerful characters has broken barriers and paved new paths, making her an emblem of excellence and an ideal recipient of this prestigious award,” Hoehne said in a statement.
