Biden Blasts ICC for ‘Outrageous’ Arrest Warrants Against Israeli Leaders – Sparks Global Controversy

US President Joe Biden on Thursday condemned the International Criminal Court (ICC) for issuing arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes. Calling the ICC’s actions “outrageous,” Biden reiterated his administration’s unwavering support for Israel.

“Whatever the ICC might imply, there is no equivalence—none—between Israel and Hamas,” Biden asserted, emphasizing the unique security challenges Israel faces.

The White House reinforced Biden’s stance in a separate statement, expressing fundamental opposition to the arrest warrants. A National Security Council spokesperson highlighted procedural issues and criticized the ICC prosecutor’s hasty decision-making, reiterating the US position that the tribunal lacks jurisdiction over Israeli officials.

The arrest warrants come amidst heightened tensions in the region and accusations of war crimes on both sides of the Israel-Hamas conflict. However, the United States, which is not a party to the ICC, has consistently rejected its authority over countries that are not members of the court.

“We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security,” Biden stated, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to Israel as a key ally in the Middle East.

The ICC’s actions have sparked sharp divisions in the international community, with some advocating for accountability in conflict zones and others warning that the tribunal’s moves could exacerbate tensions and undermine diplomatic efforts.
