Is Ben Carson Set to Become HUD Secretary? Shocking Report Names Him as Frontrunner

Ben Carson, the renowned neurosurgeon-turned-politician who ran for president in 2016 and later served as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under President Donald Trump, is reportedly the leading contender to head the agency once more. According to a report by Politico, Carson is viewed as a strong candidate to return to his former role if he chooses to accept it.

The report, citing sources familiar with the transition process, highlighted Carson as a favorite for the position. During Trump’s first term, Carson was one of the few cabinet members to serve throughout the entire administration. He also played a key role as a trusted campaign surrogate during Trump’s 2020 and 2024 presidential bids.

Amid speculation earlier this week that Carson was being considered for the role of surgeon general, the former HUD secretary took to social media to clarify his position. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) dated November 17, Carson stated, “Contrary to reports, I will not be serving as the surgeon general.” This confirmation has further fueled discussions about his potential return to HUD.
