As police continue to look for the driver who struck the father of three in a hit-and-run in Redland earlier this month, his wife is speaking out. On November 11, just before six in the morning, a hit-and-run occurred in the vicinity of Southwest 208th Street and Southwest 194th Avenue. According to Miami-Dade Police, a 2022 Ford F-250 pulling a black trailer with an orange Kubota front loader struck and killed 46-year-old Alexis Munoz.

The driver escaped the area after hitting Munoz, exiting the F-250 and boarding a little red pickup vehicle. On Monday, Sahyli Brito-Martinez, Munoz’s wife, held back tears as she talked about her husband. She claimed that his passing had dashed her hopes of relocating to the United States from Cuba with her family. “We came from Cuba like all Cubans with a dream of a better life,” she stated in Spanish.

According to Brito-Martinez, her husband was struck after dropping her off at work. A father of three was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Redland, and police are searching for the driver who caused it. Sophia Hernandez of NBC6 reports. Munoz was on a scooter at the time, according to the police. “A car was approaching from behind the victim, who was halted on a scooter while he was waiting to turn left to go to his place of employment.

According to Miami-Dade Police traffic murder detective Michael Quinones, “the victim was stopped on a scooter waiting to make a left turn to his place of business, and a vehicle was coming behind him—it’s the grey Ford pickup truck that’s in the photo—and he attempted to pass him on the right.” “He clipped him with the trailer, the victim was stuck underneath the trailer.”

According to Quinones, the driver exited the vehicle and took Munoz’s body out from under it. The driver in the red pickup was then picked up by an accomplice, a man known by the nickname “Rabiche,” and they left the area. Following the hit-and-run, the driver is thought to have left the country. “We have received information that the possible subject fled to Mexico, he has his girlfriend at the time right now is 9 months pregnant and she’s supposed to give birth at any time which we believe he is going to come back at some point,” said Quinones.

Zeniel Francisco Cabrera Talavera, 25, is being sought by police in relation to the collision. Additionally, they are looking for “Rabiche,” who was said to be in her 50s or 60s. The driver and accomplice are expected to turn themselves in, according to Munoz’s wife. “Turn yourselves in, since he’s going to be a father, be thoughtful now that you left 3 kids without their father,” she continued. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 305-471-2425.
