On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his admiration for US President-elect Donald Trump, describing him as an experienced and astute politician. However, Putin also raised concerns about Trump’s safety, stating that he no longer believed Trump was secure following recent assassination attempts.

Trump had been injured in a shooting incident in Pennsylvania in July, which was later classified as an assassination attempt. In a separate incident in September, a man was arrested and charged with attempted assassination after allegedly positioning himself with a rifle at one of Trump’s golf courses in Florida, further heightening concerns about his security.

Speaking to reporters in Kazakhstan following a summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his astonishment at the way the US election campaign had unfolded. He criticized what he described as the “absolutely uncivilized” tactics employed against Donald Trump during the campaign. Putin highlighted that these methods included extreme actions, such as multiple assassination attempts on Trump’s life, underscoring the severity of the situation.

In his comments, President Vladimir Putin shared his concerns about the safety of US President-elect Donald Trump, stating, “By the way, in my opinion, he is not safe now.” He explained that history has shown the US to be no stranger to such incidents, referring to the various attacks and threats Trump had faced. Putin expressed confidence in Trump’s intelligence, adding that he hoped Trump was cautious and fully aware of the dangers surrounding him.

Putin, who himself enjoys significant personal security, revealed that he was particularly disturbed by the criticism aimed at Trump’s family and children throughout the election campaign. He condemned such attacks as “revolting,” emphasizing that in Russia, even “bandits” would not resort to such tactics. This, he argued, was a level of animosity that should not have a place in political discourse.

In addition, Putin commented on the Biden administration’s stance on the war in Ukraine, specifically its decision to allow Ukraine to launch strikes on Russian territory using Western missiles. He speculated that this could either be a strategic move to give Trump a possible issue to address or a way to complicate his future dealings with Russia.

Regardless of the outcome, Putin expressed his belief that Trump would eventually “find the solution” to the situation. He also stated that Moscow remained open to dialogue and was prepared for discussions.
