Police initially arrived at the scene near 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road after receiving reports of a dispute between two individuals outside a convenience store.

Witnesses indicated that at least one of the individuals involved was armed with a handgun. During the confrontation, one of the people reportedly got into a vehicle and drove away from the area, prompting officers to respond to the situation.

After receiving a description of the vehicle, officers spotted it and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, the driver ignored the officers’ attempt to pull the car over and continued driving into a nearby neighborhood, specifically near 78th Avenue and Osborn Road. During the pursuit, the officers lost visual contact with the vehicle.

Moments later, they found the car abandoned in the same area, with no one inside. Further investigation revealed that the driver had fled the scene on foot, entering the backyard of a nearby home to evade capture.

As officers continued their search for the suspect, they suddenly heard a gunshot, which was later confirmed to have occurred during a confrontation between the suspect and another man in a nearby backyard.

Authorities reported that the suspect fired at least one shot, although no one was injured. Moments later, the suspect allegedly moved toward one of the responding officers while brandishing a handgun. In response, the officer fired multiple rounds at the suspect, striking him at least once.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, with officers still working to gather details and process evidence from multiple locations related to the incident.
