U.S. Teen hockey player killed by stray bullet during ride home from game in St. Louis
After being struck by a stray bullet on a St. Louis roadway this weekend, a 16-year-old has passed away. After playing a hockey game, Colin Brown was hit Saturday night while he was being driven home in his father’s vehicle, according to CBS station KMOV-TV. Police said the high school junior passed away in a hospital on Wednesday.
According to police spokesperson Mitch McCoy, a stray bullet striking a person in the city is a “rare” occurrence. Police have received tips and fresh video evidence, but no arrests have been made. While attending a friend’s birthday celebration in downtown St. Louis, Lily Paniucki said KMOV-TV that she heard Brown’s father yelling for assistance. She informed the station that she dived in to do CPR. Brown’s death was announced at the hospital on Wednesday.
