Exclusive: 105th Base Defense Group at Stewart Kicks Off High-Stakes Operations – What You Need to Know
The 105th Base Defense Group, which was recently established as a component of the 105th Airlift Wing, was officially activated on Saturday at Stewart Air National Guard Base.
The 105th Base Defense Squadron, 105th Security Support Squadron, and 205th Base Defense Squadron will include more than 300 airmen in the 105th Base Defense Group.
According to the statement, “this super squadron consists of 300 individuals with a wide variety of missions.” The 105th Base Defense Group’s first commander was Lt. Col. Michael Curtis.
“They established three distinct squadrons with distinct missions in order to help streamline it better, and it is now easier to manage.”
With their various duties, the three squadrons will provide assistance in a variety of ways. The 105th Base Defense Squadron will support domestic activities for New York State and assist with security at Stewart.
The 105th Security Defense Squadron has the intelligence and medical staff to support the missions of the other two security force squadrons, while the 205th Base Defense Squadron will assist other security force squadrons in other defense activities.
