Shocking Twist: PinkNews Boss Suspended from NHS Role After Explosive BBC Investigation

45

Following claims of sexual misconduct at the publisher, a BBC News investigation revealed that Dr. Anthony James, the director of PinkNews, had been suspended from his position in the NHS. According to Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, they decided to suspend Dr. James from his position as associate non-executive director while they looked into the matter further. Although they are unable to comment at this time regarding the initial claims made to the BBC, representatives for PinkNews founder Benjamin Cohen and his husband, Dr. James, the site’s chief operating officer, told the BBC that they maintain their position that the accusations are untrue.

Dr. James’s representatives have been contacted by the BBC regarding his suspension. More than 30 current and past employees of PinkNews, the biggest LGBT news website in the world, were interviewed for a BBC investigation. They claimed that both Mr. Cohen and Dr. James had engaged in inappropriate behavior and sexual misbehavior as a result of the company’s heavy drinking culture.

Five former PinkNews employees who were interviewed by the BBC as part of the investigation claimed to have witnessed Dr. James kissing and caressing a younger coworker who was “too drunk to consent.” Others talked about a hostile workplace culture and a fear of speaking up because the website’s two top leaders were married. Representatives for Mr. Cohen and Dr. James informed the BBC that they were unable to comment at this time regarding the initial investigation, but that they maintain that the accusations are untrue.
