Shocking Murder: Man Brutally Kills Stranger with Barbecue Fork – You Won’t Believe Why
After failing to assault his own mother and cousin, a 29-year-old man in Florida is accused of killing a complete stranger by repeatedly stabbing the victim in the head and neck with a pronged barbecue fork. According to court records examined by Law&Crime, Roosevelt Loray Johnson was arrested on Monday and charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with the ostensibly unprovoked attack. At approximately 6 p.m. on Monday, Riviera Beach Police Department officers responded to a complaint of an armed individual at the Berkley Landing Apartments in the 3100 block of Riviera Beach, approximately 75 miles north of Miami, according to a probable cause affidavit.
After the first 911 call, dispatchers reported receiving several more calls about people helping a man who had been stabbed outside the apartment building. First responders found the victim, a 5-foot-5-inch Hispanic male between the ages of 40 and 50, “bleeding and laying in the street next to his bicycle” when they arrived. As soon as they saw Johnson sitting on the bench at a nearby bus stop smoking a cigarette, witnesses started to identify him as the attacker. Johnson was apprehended by officers who noticed that his hands were covered in blood. On the bench next to Johnson’s seat, police also discovered a two-pronged barbecue fork “with blood on both prongs.”
Police were told by many witnesses that Johnson approached the victim, who was riding a bicycle, repeatedly stabbed him, then walked nonchalantly to the bus stop and lit a cigarette. According to the complaint, “Witness 3 saw [Johnson] repeatedly stab the other male in the head and neck area with an unidentified object.” Witness 3 even overheard [Johnson] yelling, “DIE! DIE! DIE,” while he kept stabbing the unidentified man. Then, according to Witness 3, [Johnson] suddenly stopped assaulting the victim, got to his feet composedly, and turned to go. After that, Witness 3 left the area, but not before spotting police and contacting them.
Deborah McLeod, Johnson’s mother, informed authorities that before to attacking the stranger, Johnson had attempted to stab her with the fork. According to the affidavit, “Johnson responded that he did not know the victim when detectives asked if he knew him.” “Is the little Guatemalan dead?” Johnson questioned, pausing detectives as the inquiries went on. Additionally, Johnson said, “I just hit him.” I simply began striking him. He was simply enjoying a beer while riding his bike. According to documents, Johnson is still being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail. Johnson faces one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in addition to the murder charge.
