The man who was pummeled by police in Palm Beach County is now suing the department months after a violent arrest was captured on camera.

Following the violent altercation with three deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Connelly is coming up for the first time. He claimed to have severe PTSD and to constantly experience nightmares.

“I was beaten until I was unable to walk for a month after being wrongfully imprisoned.” According to Connelly’s lawyers, deputies Zachary Hall, Christopher Byrne, and Vinroy Hylton are the targets of a federal civil rights lawsuit for allegedly employing excessive and unjustified force while their client was being restrained.

Connelly claims that this has caused him to sustain catastrophic injuries.

He claimed, “I woke up in a hospital chained to a bed after they broke my nose, dislocated my shoulder, and dislocated my thumb.”

It took place in Lake Worth just after midnight on February 13th. Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint about a disturbance. Connelly claims he was attempting to get his possessions out of a house he shared with his ex-girlfriend.

He chatted with the deputies when they came. Connelly was reportedly intoxicated when additional deputies arrived on the scene and refused to leave. Connelly said he began to run because he thought his life was in jeopardy.

After the takedown was filmed by deputies’ body-worn cameras, Connelly was shown being brutally pummeled while pinned to the ground. For more than a minute, the beating continued.

Rushed To Hospital

Connelly was rushed to the hospital after his face became smashed and bloodied. In April, Connelly’s accusations of resisting arrest and violence on a law enforcement officer were withdrawn. Adante Pointer, his lawyer from Lawyers for the People out of California, discussed their work.

“To give him the best chance at justice and to hold these officers accountable, we filed a federal civil rights lawsuit,” Pointer said.

Connelly added: “I watch it repeatedly and cry myself to sleep.” Seeing my own mother and other members of my family watch it makes me feel embarrassed. What do you suppose my mother is feeling?

Additionally, Connelly was unarmed, according to his lawyers. Connelly demands that the implicated deputies be fired. As of the publication of this report, Local 10 News had not heard back from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office despite reaching out to them for comment.
