A suspect was hospitalized on Monday following a shooting incident that occurred at a residence in Phoenix, according to a statement from the city’s police department. Authorities reported that around 1 a.m. on Monday, they received a call regarding gunfire in the area near 51st Avenue and Southern Avenue.
The caller informed dispatchers that multiple individuals were inside the home and armed with guns. Police responded swiftly to the scene to assess the situation and ensure the safety of those involved.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a man outside the residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that no other injuries had been reported during the incident.
According to Phoenix police, the initial investigation revealed that several armed and masked suspects had forcibly entered the home. In response, a resident of the house reportedly fired a weapon at the intruders. As the suspects attempted to flee through the residence, they also began firing shots, as indicated by official reports. During this exchange of gunfire, the man found outside the home sustained his injuries, authorities explained.
Following the incident, the remaining suspects reportedly fled the scene on foot, abandoning their vehicle at the location. Investigators were able to trace the vehicle’s ownership, which ultimately led them to identify 19-year-old Michael Valles as one of the suspects involved in the attempted robbery. Valles later turned himself in and was subsequently taken into custody by law enforcement.
Phoenix police noted that Valles could face multiple felony charges in connection to the incident. However, the investigation remains active and ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case and identify any additional suspects involved.
