Shock and Heartbreak: Arizona News Anchor Ana Orsini Dies Suddenly from Brain Aneurysm, Colleague Speaks Out
Tyler Butler, an anchor for KOLD-TV, posted on Facebook on Tuesday, December 17, that Ana Orsini, a 28-year-old news anchor from Arizona, passed away last week due to a brain aneurysm. Butler commented, “It’s so horrible, so sudden,” and revealed Orsini’s cause of death. “Ana had a powerful personality. I can’t stop thinking about how sometimes I would joke about myself and she would yell, ‘Hey! Don’t speak negatively about my friend! He went on, “We will miss her sincere concern for everyone around her.”
In KOLD’s homage, Orsini was described as someone “who always stood up for ‘the little guy.'” Younger staffers were known to receive mentoring from the anchor. According to the network, Orsini had a strong interest in animal rescue and was a frequent listener of true crime podcasts. She was a “ray of sunshine, even at 4:00 in the morning,” a “platform-Ugg-wearing” anchor who loved peanut butter and M&Ms. During a program on Monday, December 16, the journalist’s coworkers at the Tucson-based CBS affiliate confirmed her passing. Butler informed viewers, “We have sad news to share with you: our beloved friend and co-anchor Ana Orsini passed away unexpectedly last week.”
While fighting back emotions, co-anchor Carsyn Currier continued, “We are devastated by this loss, as Ana has been here at 13 News since June of 2023.” Orsini’s biography states that she graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station in 2018 and started working as a journalist at a Lubbock, Texas, news station. She subsequently traveled to Medford, Oregon, where she worked as a morning/midday anchor for three years, covering anything from “helping shelter pets find their forever homes” to “major wildfires.” Co-anchors Butler and Currier are among those who are grieving Orsini’s passing.
On Monday, December 16, Butler posted on Facebook, saying, “She was truly one of a kind.” She had a wonderful and sardonic sense of humor, was devoted to her family, and was crazy about rescuing animals. She talked about her family constantly since she loved them. I’m happy I was a little part of her work family.” Orsini was a friend who “made it that much easier” to get up in the middle of the night to work the early morning shift, according to Currier’s Instagram post. Currier captioned a carousel of pictures of the two anchors, saying, “Ana was not only beautiful, talented, and hilarious, but she was unlike anyone I’ve ever met.” Knowing Ana was the same as loving her. She gave everyone around her a sense of being heard, understood, and special.
Currier added, “She was the best dog mom to her baby boy, Harley, and a proud sister and daughter.” “Sister, rest in peace. I swear to continue living life to the fullest for YOU. In his homage to Ana Orsini, anchor Dan Marries stated, “There are special people who come into our lives that will have an everlasting impact and Ana Orsini was one of them.” “Ana, you were one in a trillion; wise beyond your years, full of practical insight, smart, compassionate, quick-witted and possessed a contagious love for animals, especially dogs.” “We are all so heartbroken over this sudden and unexpected loss,” Marries continued. I’ll draw strength and inspiration from your memories, Ana, as I attempt to go on without you in the real world. You are and will be sorely missed, Ana.
