Shocking Verdict: Woman Escapes Murder Charge After Killing Fiancé and Mother – You Won’t Believe Why
Court documents filed in Palm Beach County reveal that Alexandra Cupolo has been deemed mentally ill. The court stated, “Her mental illness is manifestly dangerous to herself and others, and therefore, meets the criteria for involuntary commitment.” Cupolo, 30, had previously been charged with first-degree murder with a firearm.
According to earlier reports, Cupolo was arrested in April 2022 following a welfare check at the home of her fiancé, Dr. Andrew Sturm, an emergency room physician. Officers from the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department responded to a residence on Arbor Crest Way after a neighbor reported hearing three gunshots early in the morning.
Cupolo, then 29, was found unresponsive in the bedroom. When she regained consciousness briefly, she reportedly muttered, “The occult made me do this, it was self-defense,” before falling unconscious again, according to the arrest report.
A Smith & Wesson .380 caliber pistol was found on a nearby end table in the bedroom where Cupolo was discovered. Additionally, police found an envelope in the kitchen containing her Last Will and Testament, Living Will, and instructions for the care of her dogs.
